Who are you selling to? Who needs your product or service? Who needs to know about what you’re doing and why? These are important questions to ask with regards to your brand. Analyzing your target audience will determine how you will speak to your potential new customers. Be as specific as you can. Utilize the following to help you with your analysis:
- Demographics: These include broad range of physical characteristics that can include, age, gender, race, marital status, etc.
- Psychographics: Psychographics will address the values, belief systems and attitudes of your target audience.
- Prior knowledge: Determine how much your target audience already knows about the product or service you’re selling.
- Usage patterns: These will determine how your audience will receive your messages and the ones to which they respond.
